how easy is it to install windows 7 on upgrade from windows vista?

I want to upgrade to windows 7 from vista but not to sure if doing it myself is a good idea. Any input would be great.

I’ve done it two times so I know…
The first time it took me about 5 hours. Pretty easy, no problems.
The second time I experienced some difficulties and ended up spending about 11 hours doing the upgrade. I had to re-download a couple of drivers and had to restart my computer like 20 times to get it to work as I wanted.

The truth is that every computer is different. Some need a lot of drivers to work, others don’t. So to figure that out, you need to install Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. You can get that from microsoft.com. And then you need to back everything up, which might take you like half an hour. Then check that you don’t need any important drivers so that after you do the upgrade you have everything that you want to install on an external storage device. Then you do the upgrade which takes about 2 hours. And finally you install anything that’s missing and set up your computer.

So… it’s pretty easy if you follow the steps, but you might experience difficulties with software and you gotta be prepare to work with it.
